The Association emerged out of the effort of one committed Liberian, a student from Liberia enrolled at Virginia Union University in the mid 1970s, who saw the need to organize Liberians and Friends of Liberia. Their purpose for coming together was to communicate, to connect, and to work cooperatively, ideals that the current leadership exhibits and incorporates in its functions. LAVA is currently focused on maintaining a community of individuals and families, by promoting education, culture awareness, and economic development and empowerment.

As you continue to navigate this site and view its contents, we invite you to give us your feedback. It is our hope that you will decide to become a member of LAVA or support its activities.
